This one is less certain than previous expansions. Overall, this is either tied, or a very close second, in terms of value, and the only real deciding factor is how much you enjoy the naval aspects of WW2. The new focus trees, while a bit complex to navigate, also bring the four targeted nations to up to the same level of flexibility nations like Japan, Germany and the Balkan nations. Being able to design ships, refit and all of the other little naval goodies completely revolutionises the naval game, where-as the Government-in-Exile mechanic is crucial if you like play nations that typically can get steam-rolled by larger powers. It's a pretty definitive 'yes', although the caveat is if you typically avoid big naval powers or generally don't play the nations that are getting the most improvements here, then you may struggle to get much out of this. The new options for Japan and Germany are a lot of fun, though. I think the content designers did an overall better job on the focuses and events in this pack than they did in Together for Victory.
Hearts of Iron IV 4 – Recommended Division Templates Honestly, my main reason to recommend it is the new unit models and voice overs, which help add texture and immersion to the war. There are mods available on the Steam workshop for several them that, in my opinion, are more fun to play with than the official DLC ones. I just finished my campaign as Germany, defeating everyone in the world.The focus trees for the Commonwealth nations are pretty underwhelming. Put a signal company in the 5th slot unless you have low manpower hospital or supply logistics. The medium tank doesn't have the speed of the light tank, or hard attack and armor of the heavy tank, but when coupled with mechanized infantry and SPA will win more than it loses. If you can't build the heavy tank, the SPAT units can give you the hard attack, but lack the high armor. An infantry division with a couple heavy tank battalions can punch a hole in the front lines for the light tank division to charge through.Ī heavy tank division with foot infantry can do wonders too. Coupled with motorized infantry the light tank division is the fastest combat unit available, packs a sustained punch. Light tank I is basically an armored machine gun. When making an armor division, don't mix the three if speed is important. Light tanks are faster than medium tanks, which are faster than heavy tanks. I personally go for meduim tanksi find the first light tanks arent very good and the heavies to much hassle to build. Try getting more tanks than motorized infantry to maximize their power. Typically you want a division template that give a mix of tanks and motorized infantry where you get a combat width of 20 or any multiple of Just experiment. Go primarily for light tanks and after you get a sizable surplus of light tanks.
